Why Isn't God Answering My Prayers? By Emerald Barnes, Author of the Entertaining Angels series In my youth class, we’ve been talking a lot lately about who we are in Christ. We were created in the image of Him. We are precious to Him, and He loves us very much. So why does it seem like life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, like nothing is going right? Sometimes it may feel like God isn’t hearing you, like He doesn’t care about you because your prayers are going unanswered. Why is this happening to us? Because we are in a battle. Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” We wrestle against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness, and spiritual hosts. What are those? Demons, devils. They are who we fight against. I realize that this isn’t news to you. You’ve probably heard this before, but we have to understand that God isn’t the one who is against us. It’s these demons. These demons rule against you in this world. They have dominion over earth. Satan is the “god,’ little g, of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4 AMP), and it’s his job to steal your identity and make you feel like God doesn’t love you. The best way to do that is to make it seem like God isn’t answering your prayers. Take Daniel for example, Chapter 10:1-14 specifically. Daniel was in Persia when he’d been given a vision and dream which upset him. It sent him into mourning, but He sought God. For three weeks, there was no answer to Daniel’s prayer, but on the 24th day, after Daniel prayed and fasted, an angel appeared to Daniel saying, “the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood” him. This demon, the prince of Persia, fought the angel to keep him from getting to Daniel. The angel said, “Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.” Sidebar, because I really think this is neat. Michael is another angel. The AMP Bible calls him “one of the chief [of the celestial] princes”. But it says that a demon in authority over the land of Persia, which the angel was going through, tried to stop the angel’s answer from getting to Daniel. And let’s also pay close attention to this, “from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.” From the first day, God sent the angel to help Daniel, but the angel didn’t come for many days, twenty-three to be exact. See, the devil wanted to stop the angel from getting to Daniel to help him, just like the devil does to YOU. It’s not God who doesn’t answer you. From the first day that you ask God something, that’s the day you get the answer. The devil just hinders that answer from getting to you. Don’t let the devil make you believe that God doesn’t care for you. He does, and He answers your prayers. There’s an enemy who wants you to fail. He wants you to forget who you are in Christ, and he wants you to think God doesn’t love you. That’s not the case. GOD LOVES YOU. Just keep standing strong for what you are believing God for, don’t doubt, and have faith. Study Ephesians 6 and learn how to stand strong in adversity. Pray the armor on and pray in the Spirit (6:18). The devil will flee when you stand strong!
